Me- A more comprehensive piece
How d’you do?
Well, hello =) I’m Chuck, well, my real name’s Charles. I live in Sydney Australia but my family is of Philippine heritage. I’m a music man, basically. My life pretty much revolves around music and by music I mean M-U-S-I-C. Elvis Presley is my idol, you can probably tell from my blog.
I’m a young kid but I’ve got an old soul; I may live now but I belong in the 30s… or the 40s… or the 50s. That’s an unsettled self debate, you see. I absolutely adore the 30s, 40s and 50s above all time. The legendary musicians- Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller and of course, Elvis Presley, being three amongst the many I just can not get enough of. The style of the times, when ladies and gentlemen were dressed so sharply. Just all of it!
I just can not express how much I love music. A swing from Benny Goodman, a crooning from Bobby Darin, the sweet impeccable close harmonies of The Andrews Sisters, a sentimental tune from The Platters, a groove from The Four Tops, a jiving blast from Glenn Miller and Rocking kick from The King, Elvis Presley. I love me a good line up. Of the hundreds of artists I wholeheartedly love, Elvis tops them all. My taste ranges pretty much from Benny Goodman to The Beatles to The Skyliners to The Temptations. Quite a web of artists surrouning that golden core. Rock ‘n’ Roll, Jazz/ Swing/ Big Band, R&B, Doo Wop, Soul, I love, love, love it!! Like I did mention, I just can not express how much I love music.
Along with listening to music comes producing music! Not professionally but I indeed hope that it one day will be. I’ve played the piano for about ten years and that’s my favourite instrument to play. I took up guitar not too long after which I have played for about eight years. I can also play the tenor saxophone of which I have been officially professionally mentored for. That’d be the only instrument I have ever gotten professional lessons for. I also play the bass guitar and double bass, drums, violin and harmonica. I am hoping to get onto the clarinet in the very near future.
I also dance which I don’t flare these days for personal reasons. I absolutely love a good Lindy-Hop. It’s my favourite dance ever which is unfortunately one of the more difficult. I do the traditonals, you know, waltz, foxtrot, quickstep, yes. I do enjoy the more swingy types, however. I’d usually never decline an opportunity to get me a good jive!
I used to be very much into sport but health matters have unfortunately seen to the end of that. I used to play reps Rugby League and State competitive swimming. It’s pretty much only tennis I am left to.
A bit about my personality- I can be quite a timid person and I just hate that. Often not but sometimes I really can be. I am incredibly immature, know that now. Not to the extent where things begin to get vulgar but definitely immature on an extreme wing. I am a very curious person and will often have a short attention span when things do present themselves. I very often find my mind wandering. Many people within my social radius consider me a strange person. Be it because of the music I like, be it the way I dress (which I will get to in a minute), be it the way I communicate by terms of how I do in fact speak and the words I use, or be it simply me as an individual, I do not know. Yes, well, how I dress. Let’s say, if anyone ever saw me in anything less than trousers or long jeans, they would think me ill. I have more collared button up shirts than your regular t-shirt. I currently own 56 neck ties, 18 bow ties and 17 other miscellaneous ties. Those figures are since I last checked. I’d say about 16 jackets (as in like, sports coats, suits and the rest), heaps of cuff links, a few suspenders et cetera! If I got to choose what people would wear, one would think we were certainly in the 1940s or 50s. Anyway, moving on, I am a deeply religious Roman Catholic not particularly because I was brought up like that but because I choose to be. My religion is a huge part of my life. I am quite conventional, to be honest. I’d like to think I am courteous and with decent intelligence. I am quite witty, go on, humour me. I am about 99% of the time optimistic and enthusiastic. I love a good challenge, especially a good game of chess. I’m a mind person, a great mystery, thriller or puzzle really gets me going.
I am generally content with my life, after all, I am still breathing, able to communicate by this means, I have food to eat, water to drink and a roof over my head. Nonetheless, I have those moments that I regret, those moments that I lose sleep over and my worries for what’s to come. But as for life, I say “Give me your best shot!”.
